Kirori Mal College began as Nirmala College, started by American Jesuits in the wake of Partition. It was located on Qutab Road. Faced with intractable problems related to the staff in the period following the Partition, the management of the College changed hands and the trust founded by Seth Kirori Mal took over the college. The College shifted to its present campus on 1 February 1954. Through the five eventful decades of its history, Kirori Mal College has celebrated the quest for expanding the landscapes of learning. Today, KMC stands for excellence and continuously sets the highest standards. The college is an alma mater which all alumni look back to with fond memories. Our College has given this country many distinguished personalities and leaders in diverse fields.
KMC has acquired excellence in all aspects of institutional functioning. Its achievements in academics, effectively complemented by vibrant contributions in the fields of sports, theatre, debate, music, photography and the fine arts, have enabled the development of a distinctive personality in its students. The credit for this goes mainly to my predecessors and the teaching faculty. My constant endeavour has been to hold true to their extraordinary vision and innovate in my own way to take this College to further glory. The unflinching support extended by my colleagues has made my task easier.

It is said 'If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people'. Indeed, one can even say that the quality of education will determine the destiny of the nation. For me, education does not mean providing answers. It means equipping the students with the means to find the answers for and within themselves. Education empowers students to discover themselves - within each student is an aspiring professional, a creative thinker and a socially aware citizen. It is our endeavour to enhance their potential to greater heights.
While the College provides a blend of academic, cultural and intellectual resources, it also brings to the students a dynamic environment for the overall development of their personalities, aspirations and talents.
Over the years in this college, I have witnessed in our students an unparalleled knowledge base, a vibrant dynamism, and an acute consciousness about the world around them, a focused ambition and a sustained commitment. I am also fortunate to have an experienced and committed team, which has brought the college to its present stature. I, along with my team of silent workers and dedicated faculty, intend to build on this strong foundation and raise the standards in all spheres to the zenith. My aim is not only to be an able administrator but also to be a friend, philosopher and guide to the students on whom they can count on and trust at all times. I assure you that my doors will always be open to the students and their parents for any suggestion or guidance.
I welcome all students who will be joining us this year. It will be our endeavour to make their stay in Kirori Mal College fulfilling, enlightening and memorable. Our task is to make sure that when our students walk out of the portals of the college, they will go out into the world as worthy human beings.
