Concurrent Courses
In addition to papers in the main discipline, each student of the B.A. (Hons) Programme is required to take, in the first two years, 5 Concurrent Courses from a range of options offered by the college. These Concurrent Courses comprise 4 Credit courses and 1 Qualifying course. The marks of the Credit courses shall count in the final result of the student, while students will have to merely secure a pass-mark in the Qualifying course and the marks obtained in this paper will not be counted in the final result.

B Credit Language Courses
English, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and Sanskrit.
[Students who have a language as their main discipline cannot take the same language as their Credit Language course. They can either choose any other language or any one of the Interdisciplinary courses 4-a or 4-b in lieu thereof. Please note that students cannot opt for both 4-a and 4-b as an Interdisciplinary course and in lieu of a Credit Language.]
C Qualifying Courses: English and Hindi (Higher or Lower)
[Students who have a language as their main discipline cannot take the same language as their Qualifying Language course. Also, students cannot opt for the same language in their Credit Language and Qualifying Language courses. In case students have not studied any of the languages on offer in this category beyond Class VIII, or if the language they have studied beyond Class VIII is not being offered by the College, they can opt for an Interdisciplinary course in lieu of a Qualifying Language.]
Discipline-centred Courses [for students in the B.A. (Hons) II programme]
The two courses have to be from different disciplines and neither can be from the student’s main discipline. The college offers the following Discipline-centred courses in Economics, English, Hindi, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Political Science, Sanskrit and Urdu:
- Economics: Principles of Economics
- English: Modern Indian Literature
- Hindi: Hindi Sahitya
- History: (a) Culture in Ancient India or (b) Culture in Modern
- India or (c) Medieval Delhi or (d) Modern Delhi
- Mathematics: Linear Algebra and Calculus [only for B.A. (Hons)
Economics students] - Philosophy: (a) Formal Logic or (b) Theories of Consciousness
- Political Science: Citizenship in a Globalizing world
- Sanskrit: Sanskrit Language and Literature
- Urdu: Urdu Literature
Note:
This is a tentative listing and students will be intimated the final set of courses on offer at the start of the academic session. Further, students may get a restricted set of choices depending on the Timetable and their main (Honours) discipline.
